Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) has announced results of 2nd Pre University Course (PUC) examination 2011 will be available at websites, BangaloreOne centers and KarnatakaOne centers on 10 May 2011 (6 pm). The results will also publish at all PU Colleges on 11 May 2011.

More than 6.24 lakh students appeared for 2nd Pre University Course examination held in March 2011.

The Board of School Education Haryana has declared the 8th class and 12th class exam results on June 9, 2011 at 7:00 a.m.

The exams were conducted in the month of March-April 2011.The results can be checked at the official website of the HP Board http://hbse.nic.in/.

22 Died in Tamil Nadu bus accident (Lead).

At least 22 people; including five women; were burnt to death in Tamil Nadu when their bus fell into a pit and its diesel tank caught fire; police said Wednesday.

Only one passenger and the bus driver had a miraculous escape.

While trying to avoid hitting another vehicle, the Pollachi-bound bus belonging to KPN Travels crashed into the pit near Vellore district; around 120 km from here; close to midnight Tuesday.

Vellore district officials told IANS that only two people survived. The bus driver surrendered to police.

Karthikai Rajam, the lone surviving passenger, said he escaped by breaking open a window but couldn't save his wife Smitha..

The bodies of the dead have been taken to a hospital in Wallajan for post mortem.

Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa Wednesday announced a compensation of Rs.100,000 to the families of the dead and Rs.50,000 to the injured in the accident..

Jayalalithaa said in the assembly that she had told Transport Minister V. Senthil Balaji, Health Minister V.S. Vijay and the minister for backward classes and environment to reach the accident spot..

Monster Index Shows Escalation of Recruitment

The Monster Employment Index for the U.S. was released today, and showed a positive annual gain of 7% in May; marking the 16th straight month of a year-over-year gain for online job demand. Other highlights include:

1. 14 of the 20 industries monitored by the Index showed positive annual growth trends, with the strongest gains in mining-oil and gas extraction (+62%, the "drill, drill, drill" effect), utilities (+35%), wholesale trade (+17%), and retail trade (+15%).  The weakest industry was public administration; which had a -18% decline in online job demand.  

2. 27 of the 28 metro markets recorded positive annual online job demand growth in May. Detroit (+38%) had the highest gain in May, followed by Cleveland, Minneapolis and Cincinnati (+27% for all three) and Chicago (+24%). D.C. (-2%) continued to be the only market to decline on an annual basis, driven by weakness in public sector hiring.

Jesse Harriott, senior vice president and chief knowledge officer at Monster Worldwide commented “There has been considerable escalation in recruitment activity during 2011 with online job demand reaching the highest reading for the month of May in the index since 2008. We are currently seeing growth in private sector recruitment, with demand for professionals in healthcare, social services and business-related occupations rising, howevergovernment-related recruitment continues to lag.”

MP: The ongoing improvements in online job demand, especially for the private sector in 27 out of 28 metro markets, is consistent with my recent reports on private sector job gains (see here andhere);  And the decline in advertised openings for public administration positions, and the overall weakness for job demand in the DC metro area is consistent with the job losses in the public sector documented in the two posts above..
